About Us

BRDO is a Community Based Organization formed by social and health workers and self employed youths of Bugiri District on 16^th August, 2009 and registered by Bugiri District Local Government Department of Community Development on 22^nd January, 2010 with certificate number BGR/1059/2284. And our objectives are - To carry out the promotion of environmental Management, protection, awareness and sensitization campaigns. - To advocate and promote the well being of vulnerable and disadvantaged children, youth and HIV+ - To promote education programmes amongst the vulnerable children Our core value is Respect for human life and environment in pursuit for development. Our activities include; Community education and sensitization about: - Environment and wild life conservation - Formal education, care and support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children(OVC). - HIV/AIDS - Sustainable live hoods - Reproductive and community Health. Provision of scholastic materials to orphans and vulnerable children. Carrying out environmental and wildlife conservation activities including planting trees. Distribution of condoms for family planning and prevention of HIV/AIDS and other diseases affecting reproductive health. Advocacy activities to the policy makers about - Environment and wildlife - Formal education, care and support for OVC - HIV/AIDS - Reproductive and Community Health. Initiating and supporting income generating activities for sustainable livelihoods among the unemployed community members especially the youths and women.		FUTURE PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR 7. Planting 100,000 trees in each of Our5 sub counties area of operation in Bugiri District in the efforts of conserving the environment and protecting wildlife 8. Incorporating education about Animal Rights in our wildlife activities. 9. Expanding and adding on two more Sub Counties in our area of operation with our activities. They include Bulesa and Nankoma. 10. Distributing 7200 x 15 condoms to the County members of Iwemba, Kapyanga, Bugiri Town Council, Bulesa and Nankoma. 11. Supporting 21 orphans with Scholastic materials. 12. Continuing and strengthening advocacy activities. 13. Continuing and strengthening sensitization activities. 14. And the rest activities relevant to the realization of our goals and mission and vision. Achievements Three Sub Counties including Iwemba, Kapyanga and Bugiri Town Council reached with education and sensitization, and condom distribution. 7200x 4 condoms distributed in rural villages of Bugeso, Nambo, Buyala, Nabirere and Kigulu of Iwemba Sub County, Nantosi, Kakabala Izira, Kapyanga, Namayemba, Kirongero and Bugoyozi in Kapyanga Sub County, and Bugiri town, Naluwerere, Busanzi Nkusi, Ndifakulya Mugona and Ndeeba in Bugiri Town Council. Organization has acquired and working closely with thicken partners including:- Nankoma Youth Association(NAYA). Multi Community Based Development I itiative(MUCOBADI). KIWODA – KIND, Bugiri Network for AIDS Service Organizations(BUNASO), Uganda Reproductive Health Bureau (URHB), District Health Office-Bugiri, Uganda Community Based Association for Child Welfare(UCOBAC), Uganda Red Cross Society(URCS), Community Development Concern Initiative(CDCI), Bugiri Vocational Institute(BVI) Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) in the realization of our objectives, mission and vision. Organization has already established Officer located at market Street Road, Next to Pride Microfinance Uganda LTD, Bugiri Branch, and post office address 322, Bugiri and a Website at www.brdo.yosite.com The organization started up a chapter in Norway currently composed of six members who are struggling to help us realize our mission and vision and our objectives.
